Turbine & Engine Oils
Oils for gas turbine engines, APUs and piston aircraft engines. Brands include AeroShell, Royco, Eastman (ETO), Shell, Nyco, Mobil and Castrol (Brayco). MIL-PRF-23699, MIL-PRF-7808 and, for civil aircraft, SAE AS5780 are the most requested turbine oil specifications; MIL-PRF-6081 covers mineral turbine oil. Piston engine oils (including the AeroShell W range) are selected to SAE J1899 and J1966. The engine manufacturer's approved list specifies the oil.

Questions we are asked most
What is the difference between turbine oil and piston engine oil?
Turbine oils are low-viscosity synthetic esters designed for high-temperature stability. Piston engine oils are mineral or semi-synthetic; SAE J1899 covers ashless dispersant oils and J1966 non-dispersant (break-in) oils.
What do SPC and HPC mean in AS5780?
SPC is standard performance capability and HPC high performance capability, with better thermal stability and coking resistance. The engine manufacturer's approval determines which class to use.
