513X384/910X456(2-USGL- KIT)

PPG DeSoto® 513X384 is a chemically cured, conventional solids, urethane compatible epoxy exterior primer, used with 910X456 activator. It is formulated to protect non-ferrous substrates from filiform and exfoliation corrosion, has excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates and a high degree of fluid and chemical resistance. It can be removed with chemical paint strippers. Colour: yellow.

Mixing and Application

• Mix ratio by volume: 513X384 base 1 : 910X456 activator 1; not for electrostatic spray
• Apply at 18.3–35 °C and 15–65% RH; recommended dry film 12.5–22.5 µm (0.5–0.9 mil)
• Viscosity (#1 Zahn) 30–40 s, pot life 8 hours; VOC 650 g/L; theoretical coverage 348 ft²/gal at 1.0 mil dry film

Drying Times (23.9 °C)

• Tack free 30 minutes maximum; dry to tape 2 hours; dry to topcoat 2–72 hours; dry to fly 48 hours; full cure 7 days
• Accelerated: 15 minutes flash-off + 30 minutes at 60 °C

Performance

• Service temperature −54 to 177 °C (−65 to 350 °F); resists Skydrol® LD-4 for 30 days and distilled water for 7 days
• With BMS 10-60 or DMS 2143 topcoats: 3,000 hours salt spray, 30 days filiform at 37.8 °C and 85% RH, 2,000 hours dissimilar metals
