Momentive SilGrip™ PSA529 is a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) supplied as a toluene solution of polysiloxane gum and resin. It is supplied at 55% silicone solids and may be further diluted with aromatic, aliphatic or chlorinated solvents. It offers a balance of peel strength, cohesion, lap shear strength and high-temperature holding power, making it useful for fastening and bonding dissimilar materials. With SRC18 amino-functional silane catalyst it cures at room temperature to an elastomeric state.
Features

- Resistance to moisture, weathering (ozone, sunlight), chemicals (acids, alkalis, oils) and biological (fungus) attack; creep resistance
Typical Properties
- Silicone solids 55%; specific gravity 0.99; density 8.2 lb/gal; viscosity at 25 °C 2500 cP
- Colour: light straw, translucent; solvent toluene; flash point (TCC) 1.6 °C (35 °F)
- Cured adhesive (uncatalysed, 2 mil): peel adhesion 2350 g/in; tack 440 g/cm²
Bonding with SRC18
- Typical formulation: PSA529 100 parts : SRC18 3.3 parts by weight; use catalysed adhesive within 48 hours
- Apply by brush, roller or suitable coating device; recommended dry thickness 3–4 mils; clean surfaces with alcohol and press together once the solvent has fully evaporated
- Maximum strength in 3–7 days at 21–25 °C; shortened cycle 24 hours at 25 °C + 24 hours at 100 °C
- Fully cured adhesive is tack free and not suitable for pressure sensitive applications
