LOCTITE® EA 608 (Hysol® Product 608) is a clear, fast setting epoxy adhesive used in many applications where optical clarity and/or fast cure rates are needed. It bonds a variety of materials including metals and plastics. It is easy to mix 1:1 by weight and volume, cures at room temperature or with heat and offers high strength.
Typical Properties
- A milky white, B amber, mixed clear; specific gravity 1.16 (mixed)
- Viscosity A 200,000–450,000 cP, B 20,000–40,000 cP
- Pot life (25 °C, 20 g) 5 min; handling strength 10–15 min; full cure 24 hours at room temperature
- Hardness 80 Shore D; dielectric strength 1200 V/mil
Shear Strength (etched aluminium, ASTM D1002)
- Cured 1 hour at 25 °C: 1500 psi
- Cured 24 hours at 25 °C: 2000 psi at 25 °C, 600 psi at 60 °C
- Cured 2 hours at 60 °C: 3000 psi at 25 °C
Use and Storage
- Components should be near room temperature; mix until colour and consistency are uniform; do not mix more than 0.45 kg (1 pound) at a time because of heat build-up
- Surfaces must be clean and dry; hold parts in contact until handling strength is reached
- Store at 8–21 °C in a cool, dry location in unopened containers
