Loctite EA 9309.3NA

LOCTITE EA 9309.3NA AERO (Hysol EA 9309.3NA) is a toughened two-part paste adhesive containing 0.13 mm glass beads for bondline thickness control. It bonds metal skins and honeycomb core to give tough, permanently flexible joints resistant to humidity, water and most common fluids. It has high shear and peel strength on aluminium. Its service temperature is approximately 82 °C.

Application Properties

• A pink-red, B blue; viscosity (25 °C) A 150–300 Pa·s, B 0.01–0.02 Pa·s; density A 1.15, B 1.0 g/ml
• Mix ratio by weight A:B 100:22; volume measurement is not recommended for structural applications
• Pot life (450 g, 25 °C) 35 min; handling strength in 12 hours at 25 °C
• Cure 3–5 days at 25 °C or 1 hour at 82 °C; do not mix more than 450 g at a time because of heat build-up

Performance (2024-T3 aluminium)

• Lap shear (ASTM D1002, clad/FPL, 72 hours at 25 °C): 37.7 at −55 °C, 32.8 at 25 °C, 6.4 MPa at 82 °C
• After 7 days in hydraulic oil, JP-4 and Skydrol 500: 31.7–32.3 MPa at 25 °C; after 30 days salt spray 32.4 MPa
• T-peel (ASTM D1876, clad, 72 hours at 25 °C): 138 N/25 mm at −55 °C, 214 N/25 mm at 25 °C; Bell peel (25 °C) 418 N/25 mm
• Castings: tensile strength 32.2 MPa; elongation 10%; hardness 80 Shore D
