LOCTITE® EA 9492 (known as Hysol 9492) is a high temperature resistant, two-component epoxy adhesive. It is a lower viscosity version of Hysol 9491 and retains its performance features. It is a general purpose adhesive that bonds and repairs a wide variety of materials. It has very low outgassing and very good solvent resistance, and fully cured bonds offer thermal shock, mechanical, electrical and impact resistance. It cures at room temperature after mixing.
Application Properties
- Resin white opaque paste, hardener grey opaque liquid, mixture white paste
- Mix ratio resin:hardener by volume 2:1, by weight 100:50; specific gravity resin 1.51, hardener 1.52
- Pot life (100 g, 22 °C) 15 min; fixture time (22 °C) 75 min; complete cure within 3 days at room temperature
Cured Properties (7 days at 22 °C)
- Hardness 80 Shore D; tensile strength 31 N/mm²; tensile modulus 6,700 N/mm²; compressive strength 80 N/mm²; elongation 0.8%
- Lap shear (ISO 4587): grit blasted mild steel 20, abraded aluminium 14, stainless steel 12 N/mm²
- 180° peel (grit blasted steel) 1.6 N/mm; dielectric breakdown strength 17.5 kV/mm
- 115% of initial strength retained after 1000 hours in motor oil and unleaded gasoline at 22 °C
Use
- Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of grease; discard the first 3–5 cm from the cartridge
- Do not mix and cure more than 0.5 kg at a time because of heat build-up
- Not for use in pure oxygen or oxygen rich systems or with chlorine or strong oxidizing materials
