Loctite EA 956 Aero

LOCTITE EA 956 AERO (Hysol EA 956) is a two-component adhesive with excellent elevated temperature strength. Its room temperature cure capability and low viscosity make it suitable for repair applications, including laminating, injection and coating. When cured 1 hour at 93 °C, its service temperature is 149 °C.

Application Properties

• A, B and mixed amber; viscosity (25 °C) A 35 Pa·s, B 3 Pa·s; density A 1.22, B 0.96, mixed 1.15 g/ml
• Mix ratio by weight A:B 100:58; volume measurement is not recommended for structural applications
• Pot life (450 g, 25 °C) over 30 min; do not mix more than 250 g at a time because of heat build-up
• Handling strength of 3.4 MPa: 6 hours at 25 °C, 20 min at 60 °C, 3 min at 85 °C, 1 min at 121 °C
• Cure 5–7 days at 25 °C or 1 hour at 93 °C

Performance (2024-T3 clad aluminium, ASTM D1002)

• Cured 5 days at 25 °C: 12.3 at −55 °C, 15.8 MPa at 25 °C
• Cured 1 hour at 93 °C: 16.5 at −55 °C, 17.2 at 25 °C, 6.9 at 149 °C, 2.1 MPa at 204 °C
• Castings (cured 2 hours at 93 °C): tensile strength 47.5 MPa; hardness 88 Shore D; Tg 123 °C

Storage

• Below 4 °C: A and B 1 year; below 25 °C: A 3 months, B 1 year; below 32 °C: A 1 month, B 1 year
