Acrylic and structural adhesives for load-bearing joints in metal, plastic and composite parts, and retaining compounds for cylindrical assemblies. Most products are from Loctite, alongside Hernon and 3M. Acrylic adhesives bond dissimilar materials with minimal surface preparation and cure quickly; two-part and activator-cured types are available. MIL-R-46082 is a frequently requested specification for retaining compounds. TDS and SDS are on each product page.

What is a retaining compound?
An anaerobic product that fills the gap in cylindrical fits such as bearings, bushings and shafts and cures in the absence of air. It increases load capacity and prevents fretting corrosion.
Where do acrylic adhesives have the edge?
On lightly oiled metals, dissimilar material pairs (metal to plastic or composite) and assemblies needing fast fixture time. Low-surface-energy plastics need special grades or a primer.
