Dry Film Lubricants
Solid lubricant coatings for places where oil and grease cannot be used or would attract dirt: molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂), graphite and PTFE-based dry films, air-cured or heat-cured. Brands include Molykote, Sandstrom, Zip-Chem, Everlube, LPS and Rocol; MABAYCO is an authorised distributor for Sandstrom and Zip-Chem. In aviation, AS5272 and MIL-PRF-46010 are frequently requested for heat-cured films, and MIL-L-23398 and MIL-L-46147 for air-cured films. Film thickness, cure temperature and time are given in the TDS.

Why choose a heat-cured dry film?
Heat-cured films (AS5272, MIL-PRF-46010) usually give longer wear life and better corrosion resistance but need an oven. Air-cured films are practical in the field and on large parts.
How is the surface prepared?
The surface is fully degreased; most products call for a pretreatment such as grit blasting, phosphating or anodising. The correct preparation is defined in the TDS and directly affects film life.
