MOLYKOTE D-7409 Anti-Friction Coating is a heat-curing dry-film lubricant of solid lubricants in an organic binder and solvents. It combines outstanding lubrication with corrosion protection for metal/metal combinations with slow to moderately fast movements and moderate to high loads, including where oils and greases cannot be used.
Features
- High load-carrying capacity and wear resistance
- Resistant to oil, grease and solvents; avoids fretting corrosion
- Service temperature -70 °C to +300 °C; grayish black
- Cure 30 minutes at 220 °C (object temperature)
- Recommended dry-film thickness 5–20 µm; coverage approx. 16 m²/kg at 10 µm
- Salt spray (Zn-phosphated steel, 15 µm): 250 h without red rust
Applications
- Highly stressed sliding areas with low speeds, oscillating or intermittent movement
- Permanent lubrication at high temperatures
- Piston rings and tappets, starter motor armatures, bonnet lock components
Notes
- Pre-treat by phosphating or sandblasting; apply by spraying, dipping, centrifuging or brushing. Thinner: MOLYKOTE 7415.
- Usable life: 36 months at 5–23 °C in unopened containers.
