NOX-RUST® VCI-10 is a lubricating oil containing volatile corrosion inhibitors (VCI) for the preservation of ferrous metal parts in enclosed systems. By combining the properties of a preservative oil with volatile corrosion inhibitors, it provides long term rust protection in voids and closed systems. The vaporizing inhibitors spread throughout the system and protect surfaces above the oil level, while contact inhibitors protect the metal below the oil level. It is used in fuel and storage tanks, cylinders, transmissions, gear housings, clutch compartments, crankcases, and hydraulic and coolant circulating systems.
Typical Properties
- Viscosity (38 °C) 210 SUS; pour point −23 °C; flash point 149 °C; specific gravity 0.906
- Film thickness (25 °C) 0.013 mm; coverage approx. 74 m²/L; volatile 6%
- Humidity test (JAN-H-792, 100% RH, 49 °C) 300 hours; vapour phase protection (MIL-P-46002A procedure) pass
Use
- Hydraulic cylinders and systems: add 2% to the test oil
- Crankcase: add 1% by volume to the engine oil; transmissions: add 2% to the lubricant
- Clutch compartments and tanks: fog into the compartment and plug the orifice to retain the vapour
