NYCOPROTEC 05 is a petroleum corrosion preventive oil based on a mineral piston engine oil fortified with a corrosion inhibiting additive package. It is a temporary preservative oil for reciprocating piston aircraft engines and is used as a storage oil to protect aircraft components, such as helicopter transmission gearboxes, from corrosion. It may be applied by spraying or brushing on external components; internal components are usually protected by filling with the oil. It is usually drained prior to use.
