Hernon® Dripstop 923 is a single-component, white, paste-like anaerobic pipe sealant. It cures when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces in the absence of air and develops controlled low strength to allow disassembly. Certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for potable water systems up to 82 °C (180 °F).
Typical Applications
- Sealing metal tapered pipe threads and fittings up to 2 in (5 cm) NPT
- Chemical processing, petroleum refining, utilities and power generation, marine, gas compression and distribution
- Industrial plant fluid power systems
Typical Properties
- Resin: methacrylate ester; specific gravity 1.16
- Pressure resistance: up to 10,000 psi
- Temperature range: −55 to 150 °C (−65 to 300 °F)
- Breakaway torque (ASTM D6396, 3/8 in NPT steel, 72 h at 22 °C): 5 N·m (45 in-lb)
Directions for Use
- Clean threads with Hernon cleaning solvent; use Primer 49 or 50 on inactive metals
