LOCTITE® AA 325™ (LOCTITE® 325™) is a one-component, medium viscosity, clear dark brown modified acrylic ester adhesive. It cures anaerobically at room temperature with the aid of an activator when confined between close fitting parts. It is used to bond metal or ceramic close fitting rigid parts exposed to thermal cycling; a typical application is electric motor assemblies.
Typical Properties
- Specific gravity (25 °C) 1.1; viscosity (Brookfield RVT, 25 °C) 14,000–25,000 mPa·s
- Lap shear strength on grit blasted steel: 24 hours with Activator 7075™ on one side 11 N/mm²
- 48 hours with activator on two sides, 0.5 mm gap at least 11 N/mm²
- After 720 hours at 87 °C, % of initial strength: auto transmission fluid and phosphate ester 110%, unleaded gasoline 75%
Use and Storage
- Apply Activator 7075™ or 7387™ to one surface and the adhesive to the other; assemble within 15 minutes
- Recommended bondline gap 0.1 mm; for gaps up to 0.5 mm apply activator to both surfaces and assemble within 1 minute
- Full strength typically in 24–72 hours; not normally recommended for thermoplastics
- Store at 8–21 °C in a dry location in unopened containers
