Krytox 240 AZ

Krytox™ 240 AZ is a white, buttery aerospace grade fluorinated grease made from Krytox™ 143 AZ perfluoropolyether (PFPE) oil. The base oil is a clear, colourless, non-reactive, non-flammable synthetic fluorinated oil that is safe in chemical and oxygen service; its polymer chain contains only carbon, oxygen and fluorine. Standard Krytox greases are thickened with PTFE of low molecular weight and 2 µm particle size with a melting point of 325 °C.

• Base oil viscosity 60 cSt at 20 °C, 24.7 cSt at 38 °C, 4.2 cSt at 99 °C, 1.08 cSt at 204 °C
• Base oil pour point −55 °C; vapour pressure (38 °C) 4 x 10⁻⁴ torr; volatility (149 °C, 22 hours) 18% by weight
• Worked penetration (60 strokes) 265–295; no change at 10,000 and 100,000 strokes
• Grease density (25 °C) 1.89 g/mL; oil separation (99 °C, 30 hours) 6% by weight
• Oxidation stability (99 °C, 600 hours) 0 psig pressure drop; passes liquid oxygen impact (ASTM D2512)
• Estimated useful range −57 to 149 °C
