LOCTITE® SF 7400™ (known as LOCTITE® 7400™) is a solvent based dark red marking ink for use on electronic equipment. It dries quickly and has excellent adhesion to a range of materials. It is used for tamper-proofing adjustment points or marking components to indicate that they have been set or tested. It dries by solvent evaporation to leave a pigmented film of organic polymer; when fully dried it has excellent visibility and good adhesion to a wide range of polymers and metals.
Typical Properties
- Red liquid; viscosity (Brookfield, 20 °C, spindle 4, 60 rpm) 1030 mPa·s; solids content 22.5%
- Tack free time 5 min for a 100 µm film; dry time 5–7 hours
Use and Storage
- Shake the container thoroughly before use to re-disperse the pigment and allow to stand to eliminate air bubbles
- Wipe off with MEK or butyl acetate while still liquid; remove dried film mechanically and wipe the residues with these solvents
- Not for use in pure oxygen or oxygen rich systems or with chlorine or strong oxidizing materials
- Flammable; store at 8–21 °C in a dry location in unopened containers
