Castrol Braycote® 601 EF is a smooth, buttery, translucent, off-white NLGI 2 grease. Its base oil (Brayco® 815Z) is a perfluorinated polyether with exceptional chemical resistance, extremely low volatility and a wide service temperature range. It is non-toxic and nonflammable, contains a rust and corrosion inhibitor and shows high load-carrying capacity in the Four-Ball EP test. It is designed to operate with rocket fuels, oxidizers and high vacuum; it is used in space applications and for bearings, gears and as an assembly lubricant for O-rings and elastomers. It is removed with Brayco IC X-100.
Typical Properties
- Service temperature −80 to 204 °C
- Worked penetration 270–295; dropping point 213 °C
