MS-122AD is an efficient, economical and universal release agent containing a high lubricity, low molecular weight PTFE fluoropolymer specialized for mold release and dry lubricant applications. It uses a non-flammable, non-ozone-depleting carrier solvent/propellant mixture. It minimizes slip-stick and is non-migrating and non-staining. It releases plastics, rubbers, resins, phenolics, acrylics, polycarbonates, urethanes, polystyrene, nylons and elastomers with virtually no transfer of the release agent. As a dry lubricant it provides lubricity and wear resistance on metal, ceramics, glass, elastomers, rubber, polycarbonates and wood.
Typical Properties
- Fluoropolymer; white particle suspension; slight odour
- Specific gravity (25 °C) 1.20 g/mL; ozone depletion 0.00; VOC 84 g/L
Use
- Clean the mold surface mechanically, then chemically; remove all previous release agent
- Shake the can for one minute; apply a light coat to a non-heated mold surface from approx. 15–20 cm; allow the solvent to dry completely before molding
- When release becomes hesitant, reapply one coat in the same manner
- For a fused coating, heat the surface to 305–316 °C after application and hold for 10 min; the coating turns from white to translucent
