FLAWFINDER Dye Penetrant is an aerosol dye penetrant that can be sprayed from any angle and is part of the FLAWFINDER NDT crack detection system. It provides a fast, reliable method for the visual detection of cracks or flaws not normally visible to the naked eye. It is suitable for the inspection of welded joints, castings and forgings; a bright red indication marks the flaw or crack. It can be used on steel, stainless steel, aluminium, ceramics, plastics, carbides, brass, copper and magnesium, and detection is carried out under natural or electric light. It is easily removed by solvent or water washing.

Application
- Clean the surface with FLAWFINDER Cleaner and allow to dry; spray the penetrant from 15–30 cm and allow at least 10 min contact time (up to 30 min for extremely fine flaws)
- Remove excess penetrant with a dry cloth and the remainder with a cloth pre-moistened with cleaner; then apply a thin film of developer and leave for 10 min
- Cracks show up as lines, porosity as pin holes

- Below 50 °C, out of direct sunlight; shelf life 5 years from date of manufacture
