Hernon® Nuts N' Bolts® 232 is a single-component, medium-strength anaerobic compound for locking and sealing fine-threaded nuts, bolts and studs where removal with ordinary hand tools is required. Each batch is tested to ASTM D5363 (AN0141), which replaced MIL-S-22473E Grade C.

- Viscosity at 25 °C: 10–25 cP; specific gravity 1.16
- Temperature range: −55 to 150 °C (−65 to 300 °F); maximum gap fill 0.1 mm (0.004 in)
Performance (ASTM D5363, 3/8-24 Grade 2 steel)
- Breakaway torque after 24 h at 22 °C: 5.6 N·m (50 in-lb)
- Prevailing torque after 24 h: 4.5–11.3 N·m (40–100 in-lb)
- With Primer 49 on steel: prevailing torque 4.5–11.3 N·m reached in 40 minutes
Directions for Use
- Clean threads with Hernon Cleaning Solvent 62; use Primer 49 or 50 on inactive metals
- Through holes: apply a few drops at the nut engagement area; blind holes: apply down the internal threads
- Remove with hand tools; if needed, heat locally to about 250 °C and disassemble hot
Storage
- 7–29 °C (45–85 °F) in unopened containers; not for pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems
