Hernon® Nuts N’ Bolts® 425 is a single-component, thixotropic anaerobic threadlocker that develops medium to high strength. It cures in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces.
Typical Applications
- Prevents loosening and leakage of threaded fasteners
- Grade 5 and Grade 8 high-strength bolts; heavy equipment studs
- Differential case bolts; traction-motor mounting bolts; refrigeration hardware
Typical Properties
- Chemical type: dimethacrylate ester; red fluorescent liquid
- Viscosity at 25 °C: 1200–2400 cP; specific gravity 1.09
- Temperature range: -55 to 150 °C (-65 to 300 °F); set time on steel ≤5 minutes
- Breakaway torque on steel after 24 h (3/8-16 grade 5): 11.3–28.2 N·m
- Shear strength (ISO 10123, 24 h RT): ≥10.3 N/mm² (1500 psi)
Quality / Notes
- Each batch tested to MIL-S-46163A Type II Grade O and ASTM D5363 (AN0331)
- Not recommended for pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems
- Store at 7–29 °C (45–85 °F) in unopened containers
