PPG Desothane HS CA8000/B7067 Polyurethane Topcoat White

PPG Desothane® HS CA8000 is a high-solids, low-VOC polyurethane topcoat used to protect and decorate aircraft exterior surfaces; CA8000/B7067 is the white colour. It is applied over Desoprime™ epoxy primers, with excellent adhesion to epoxy primers, excellent gloss and colour retention and fluid resistance, and can be applied in a wide range of conditions. Service temperature is −54 to 177 °C (−65 to 350 °F).

Mixing and Application

• Mix ratio by volume: CA8000 base 2 : CA8000B activator 1 : CA8000C series reducer 1; no induction time
• Pot life (21–25 °C): C 3 hours, C1 2 hours, C2 1.5 hours, C3 1 hour
• Apply at 15–35 °C and 20–90% RH in 2–3 coats to 50–75 µm dry film; theoretical coverage 9–10 m²/L at 60 µm; gloss ≥90 at 60°

Drying Times (23 °C, 50% RH)

• Dry to tape: 10–12 hours with C, 6–8 hours with C1, 3–4 hours with C2, 1–2 hours with C3; full cure 7 days
• For aircraft repainting, at least 48 hours is recommended before flying

Storage

• Mixed VOC <420 g/L; base, activator and reducers 24 months in unopened containers; 5–35 °C
