AkzoNobel 454-4-1 is a chemically cured, two-component epoxy integral fuel tank coating. It protects aircraft fuel tanks from chemicals, hydraulic fluids, aviation fuels, phosphate ester (Skydrol) fluids and corrosion-causing media, and is compliant with SCAQMD Rule 1124 VOC requirements.
Components
- Base 454-4-1: 3 parts by volume
- Curing solution CA-109: 1 part by volume
- Thinner TL-52: 0–0.25 part (optional)
Features
- Pot life 8 hours at 25 °C; induction time 30–60 minutes
- Dry film thickness 8–20 µm, single wet coat
- Tack-free in 3 hours, dry hard in 12 hours; force cure 1 hour at 71 °C after 30 min flash
- Theoretical coverage 8.9 m²/L at 25.4 µm DFT

- Over Alodine 1200 (MIL-C-5541) or chromic acid anodised (BAC 5019) aluminium

Notes
