PPG Deft 02W053 is a lead and chromate free, corrosion inhibiting epoxy primer. It is designed to withstand 1000 hours salt spray and 40 cycles GMW 14872; it is chemical, solvent and fluid resistant and free of hazardous air pollutants. It is for steel and aluminium substrates. It is qualified to MIL-DTL-53022 Type IV and is compatible with MIL-PRF-22750 and MIL-PRF-85285 topcoats. Colour white.
Mixing and Application
- By volume 02W053 base 4 : 02W053CAT catalyst 1; no reducer required, or reduce up to 20% by volume with Deft IS-279
- Induction time 30 min; pot life 4 hours at 21–25 °C
- Apply at 15–30 °C, 20–70% RH; dry film 33–43 µm
- Theoretical coverage 20.7 m²/L at 25 µm
- Steel: SSPC-SP6 blast or TT-C-490 Type I zinc phosphate; aluminium: MIL-DTL-5541 or MIL-A-8625 pretreatment
