PPG 0730/9000 is the activator for PU66 5462, a two-component flexible polyurethane topcoat of the PU 66 range. Mixed 1:1 by volume with the 5462 base, it forms a matt topcoat system designed for internal and external protection and decoration of aircraft structures. The system offers excellent fluid resistance including Skydrol hydraulic fluid, and UV resistance.

- The 5462 topcoat system is qualified to BLGG 140301 and MDL 5041 and meets the performance requirements of MIL-PRF-85285.

- Mix ratio (by volume, base:activator): 5462 base 1 : 0730/9000 activator 1; 0491/9000 thinner to viscosity
- Pot life: 4 hours at 21–25 °C (70–77 °F)
- Gloss (60°): ≤ 5 units
- 0730/9000 activator flash point: 13 °C (55 °F)
Application
- Application conditions: 15–35 °C (59–95 °F), 30–85% relative humidity
- 2 cross coats; recommended dry film thickness 30–50 µm.
Cure
- At 23 °C (73 °F), 50% RH: dust free 2 hours; dry to tape 8 hours; overcoat 1 hour (min.) to 72 hours (max.); full cure 7 days
- At 60 °C (140 °F): dry to tape 30 minutes
Packaging and Shelf Life
- 0730/9000 activator: 24 months in original unopened container; store between 5 °C and 35 °C (41–95 °F).
