PPG 0986/2620 Anti-Static Kit Type II

PPG 0986/2620 is the kit reference for 5420/2620 anti-static polyurethane primer base and activator. It is designed to conduct electrostatic charges from composite parts to the metallic structure of the aircraft. With Type II low conductivity it is used on radomes and antenna fairings, and it is compatible with most composite materials, sandable, flexible and water resistant.

Kit and Mixing

• Kit: 3 L 5420/2620 base + 1 L 0709/9000 activator
• Mix ratio by volume: base 3 : activator 1 : 0491/9000 thinner 1
• No induction time; pot life 2 hours at 21–25 °C

Application and Properties

• Apply at 15–30 °C and 30–80% RH in several light coats to 40–55 µm (1.6–2.2 mil) dry film
• Electrical resistivity: 5–100 MΩ per square; colour grey
• Theoretical coverage: 7 m²/L at 50 µm
• Drying (23 °C / 60 °C): touch 90 min; handle 4 h / 30 min; tape 8–10 h; overcoat 1–72 h; full cure 7 days / 3 h

Storage

• Base and activator: 18 months in unopened containers; thinner 10 years; 5–35 °C
• Mixed VOC: 560 g/L
