PPG 03 Series are chemically cured polyurethane military topcoats for exterior application on aircraft and aerospace equipment; 03-X-085 is the gloss clear version. Over properly applied commercial or military primers they give excellent protection against weathering, humidity and salt spray. They offer good gloss and colour retention and resist hydraulic fluids, lubricating oils, JP-5 fuel and water. They are compatible with many types of spray equipment. Service temperature is −54 to 177 °C.

Application Properties
- Mix ratio by volume (gloss): 03 Series base 1, 03CAT catalyst 1; no thinner required
- No induction time required; pot life 4 hours at 21–25 °C
- Two coats to 42–58 µm total dry film; 30–60 min between coats
- Application conditions 15–30 °C, relative humidity 20–90%; gloss above 90 units at 60°
Drying (22–28 °C)
- Set to touch at least 6 hours; dry to tape at least 12 hours; full cure 14 days
- VOC below 420 g/L
