PPG Desoprime™ HS CA7233 is a high-solids, corrosion-, chemical- and solvent-resistant military epoxy primer used on aircraft exteriors. It has excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates and a high degree of Skydrol® resistance, is compatible with Desothane® HS topcoats and passes the rain erosion test, with a service temperature of −54 °C to 177 °C (−65 °F to 350 °F).

Mixing and Application
- Mix ratio by volume: CA7233A base 1 part : CA7233B activator 1 part
- Induction time depends on temperature: 1–1.5 h at 13–18 °C; 30–60 min at 18–23 °C; 30 min at 24–29 °C; none above 29 °C
- Pot life: 5 h at 13–18 °C, 4 h at 18–23 °C, 3 h at 24–29 °C, 1.5 h above 29 °C
- Over aluminium treated to MIL-C-5541 or equivalent and composites; apply at 15–30 °C and 20–90% RH in one medium coat to 15–30 µm (0.6–1.2 mil)
- Theoretical coverage: 18 m²/L at 25 µm; colour yellow
Drying Times (22–28 °C)
- Dust free 30 min; tack free 60 min; dry to tape 2 h; topcoat 2–72 h
- Dry to fly 48 h; full cure 7 days; accelerated: 30 min flash-off + 60 min at 49 °C
Storage
- 12 months to specification, 24 months to PRC-DeSoto standard (unopened containers); 5–35 °C
