CA8000C1 is the reducer component of Desothane® HS CA8000 low-VOC polyurethane topcoats, used to protect and decorate aircraft exterior surfaces. The CA8000C series comes in four types based on drying speed (C, C1, C2, C3); C1 gives shorter drying times than C and longer than C2 and C3. CA8000 topcoats are applied over Desoprime™ epoxy primers, with a service temperature of −54 to 177 °C (−65 to 350 °F).

Mixing and Application
- Mix ratio by volume: CA8000 base 2 : CA8000B activator 1 : CA8000C series reducer 1; do not adjust viscosity
- Pot life with C1 2 hours at 21–25 °C; apply at 15–35 °C and 20–90% RH in 2–3 coats to 50–75 µm dry film
Drying Times (C1, 23 °C, 50% RH)
- Inter-coat 1–1.5 hours; dust free 2 hours; dry to tape 6–8 hours (30 min at 60 °C); overcoat 8–72 hours; full cure 7 days
Storage
- Reducer VOC 720–760 g/L; flash point 22 °C (72 °F); 24 months in unopened containers; 5–35 °C
