PPG DeSoto 515X349 BMS 10-79 Type III Class A Grade A Exterior Primer

PPG DeSoto 515X349 is a urethane-compatible epoxy exterior primer formulated to protect aluminium and composite substrates. It is difficult to remove with chemical strippers and has a service temperature of −54 to 177 °C (−65 to 350 °F). It is applied over aluminium with MIL-C-5541 conversion coating or chromic acid anodise. Colour: dark green.

Mixing and Application

• Mix ratio by volume: 515X349 base 1 : 910X533 activator 1
• Induction time 30 min; pot life 8 hours
• Dry film thickness 12.5–22.5 µm; theoretical coverage 9.5 m²/L

Drying Times (22–28 °C)

• Tack free 30 min; dry to tape 2 hours; topcoat 2–72 hours; dry to fly 48 hours; full cure 7 days
• Accelerated: 15 min flash-off + 30 min at 60 °C

Storage

• Mixed VOC 650 g/L; shelf life 12 months to most OEM specifications, 24 months to PRC-DeSoto standard
