PPG DeSoto® 825-009 is a heat-resistant high-temperature urethane primer that withstands an operating temperature of 232 °C (450 °F). Used over aluminium and composite surfaces, it can be used by itself or topcoated, and offers excellent adhesion to composites and aluminium, corrosion resistance and fluid resistance, with a service temperature of −54 °C to 232 °C.

Mixing and Application
- Mix ratio by volume: 825-009 base 4 parts : 910-175 activator 1 part : 020-044 thinner 4 parts
- Pot life: 8 hours at 21–25 °C
- Aluminium surfaces treated to MIL-C-5541 or equivalent; apply at 15–30 °C and 20–90% RH in one or two medium coats to 25–50 µm (1–2 mil) dry film
- Theoretical coverage: 9.8 m²/L at 25 µm; colour: aluminised green
Drying Times (22–28 °C)
- Between coats 30 minutes; dry to stack 4 hours; overcoat 6–24 hours; full cure 14 days
- Accelerated: 30 minutes flash-off at 24 °C, then 90–120 minutes at 121 °C (dry to topcoat)
Storage
- 12 months to most OEM specifications, 24 months to PRC-DeSoto standard (unopened containers); 5–35 °C
