PPG 0841/9000 is the acid catalyst for the P99 Wash Primer system. Mixed 1:1 by volume with 7641/3600 base, it forms a two-pack, chromated, ambient-curing wash primer designed for the protection of aircraft exteriors. The system is designed to provide high resistance to filiform corrosion and offers good adhesion to a variety of light alloys, steel and polyurethane primers.

Typical Properties
- Mix ratio (by volume, base:catalyst): 7641/3600 base 1 part, 0841/9000 acid catalyst 1 part; 0434/9000 thinner to viscosity (typically 0.1–0.3 volume)
- Induction time: 15–30 minutes
- Pot life: 8 hours at 21–25 °C (70–77 °F)

Application
- Recommended application conditions: 15–30 °C (59–86 °F), 30–75% relative humidity
- Apply one wet, even coat to a dry film thickness of 4–8 µm (0.16–0.32 mil)
- Do not apply over fresh (less than 7 days) chromate conversion coatings
Cure
- At 23 °C (73 °F) and 50% RH: dust free 20 minutes; dry to overcoat 1–24 hours; full cure 7 days
Packaging and Shelf Life
- 0841/9000 acid catalyst: 24 months in the original unopened container; store between 5–35 °C (41–95 °F)
