PR 1523-M

PPG PR-1523-M is an adhesion promoter that enhances the coupling of polyurethane compounds to neoprene surfaces. It is a one-part compound applied by brush and dries at room temperature in approximately 30 minutes.

Typical Properties (PRC-DeSoto test methods)

• Colour: brown; viscosity (Brookfield #2 at 10 rpm) 1.3 P (0.13 Pa·s)
• Dry time (22–28 °C): ½ hour minimum, 4 hours maximum
• Specific gravity 1.04; non-volatile content 50% minimum

Application

• Abrade the neoprene surface with a suitable abrasive and remove dirt, grease and processing lubricants
• Brush on a thin coat, dry approximately 30 minutes at standard temperature and wipe off the excess with a clean gauze pad
• Repeat priming if potting is not done within 4 hours or the surface becomes contaminated

Storage

• One-part containers; at least 6 months at 5–27 °C (40–80 °F) in original unopened containers
• Hygroscopic and must be kept free of moisture; discard if a dark, grainy precipitate forms
