PPG PR-1592 is a high-hardness, two-part, chemically curing polyurethane potting and molding compound. It is designed for applications where high retention of electrical properties after exposure to high humidity and temperature is required, with a service temperature range of −57 °C to 149 °C (−70 °F to 300 °F). Elevated-temperature cure is needed for optimal performance.
Application Properties
- Colour: Part A dark amber or black, Part B straw; mixed dark amber or black
- Mix ratio by weight A : B = 53 : 100
- Application life at 24 °C: 2 hours (two-part unit), 1 hour (PMF cartridge)
- Cure: mould release in 2 hours and 55 Shore A in 6 hours at 82 °C; 55 Shore A in 168 hours at 25 °C

- Hardness 85 Shore A; specific gravity 1.08; volume shrinkage 4%
- Tensile strength 34,475 kPa (5000 psi); elongation 425%; tear strength 320 lb/in
- Dielectric strength (125 mil) 300 V/mil; volume resistivity 1×10¹² Ω·cm at 24 °C
- Fungus resistance (MIL-E-5272): non-nutrient; self-extinguishing; ozone resistance conforms to MSFC-SPEC-202B
Packaging and Storage
- Two-part unit or premixed and frozen (PMF) Semco® cartridges
- Two-part unit: at least 12 months below 27 °C; PMF cartridges: at least 30 days below −40 °C
