PPG PR-188 is a universal sealant adhesion promoter for both PRC® and Pro-Seal™ brand sealants. It enhances the adhesion of polysulfide and Permapol® polythioether sealants to standard aerospace substrates. It is qualified to AMS 3100 Class 2 and has zero VOC under U.S. regulations. It is a one-part product applied by brush or clean gauze. It is not for polycarbonate or acrylic substrates.
Typical Properties
- Colour blue; specific gravity 1.28; dry time 30 minutes at 25 °C
- Peel (JRF/salt water, 7 days, 60 °C): 116–267 N/25 mm with PR-2001 B, PR-1422 B, PR-1776M B and PR-1750 B, 100% cohesive
Application
- Apply a thin coat with gauze to the solvent-cleaned surface, dry for about 30 minutes and wipe off the excess
- Re-prime if sealing is not done within 4 hours
