PS 700

PPG PS 700 is a high temperature, primerless firewall sealant. Service temperature is −54 to 204 °C, and it withstands flash temperatures of 1093 °C. It is designed for sealing firewall structures against the passage of air and vapours. It is a two-part synthetic rubber compound, a low sag paste applied by extrusion gun or spatula. Tests are run to MIL-S-38249 Type I methods.

Application Properties

• Colour: A brown, B black, mixed black; mix ratio by weight 2.5:100
• Base viscosity 12,000 P (1200 Pa·s); slump 5.08 mm
• Application life 2 hours; tack free under 4 hours; 30 Shore A in 48 hours

Performance

• Specific gravity 1.36; non-volatile content 70%; hardness 75 Shore A
• Peel (aluminium and stainless steel): dry 53 N/25 mm, 67 N/25 mm after 72 hours at 204 °C
• No flame penetration after 15 minutes at 1093 °C; retains 5 psi pressure before and after the flame test
• No cracking or loss of adhesion at −54 °C

Storage

• At least 12 months below 27 °C in unopened containers
