PS 890 B2

PPG PS 890 Class B is an aircraft integral fuel tank sealant. Service temperature is −54 to 121 °C, with intermittent excursions up to 135 °C. It is designed for fillet sealing of fuel tanks and other fuselage sealing applications, and maintains elastomeric properties after prolonged exposure to jet fuel and aviation gasoline. It is a two-part, manganese dioxide cured polysulfide, a low sag, thixotropic paste applied by extrusion gun or spatula. Tests are run to AMS-S-8802 Class B methods.

• Application life 2 hours; tack free under 6 hours; 35 Shore A in 10 hours

Performance

• Specific gravity 1.55; non-volatile content 95%; hardness 49 Shore A
• Peel: 173–196 N/25 mm after JRF, 173–200 N/25 mm after JRF/salt water, 100% cohesive
• Tensile strength 2069 kPa (300 psi); elongation 300%; tensile 2896 kPa after 7 days at 121 °C
• Weight loss 5.0% after 7 days in JRF at 60 °C; no corrosion after 20 days in salt water/JRF

Storage

• At least 9 months below 27 °C in unopened containers; kits and Semco cartridges
