Hernon® ReAct 761 is a toughened acrylic adhesive designed primarily for bonding permanent magnets; it is also used in various structural bonding applications. It combines high tensile strength with flexibility, giving bonds with high impact and peel resistance. It is single component and cures at room temperature with Hernon Activator 59 or 56; it may also be heat cured at 150 °C. It is not normally recommended for thermoplastics because of the risk of stress cracking.
Typical Properties
- Modified acrylic; pale yellow liquid; viscosity 80,000–120,000 cP; specific gravity 1.03
- Cured hardness 60–70 Shore D
- Fixture time (grit-blasted steel, Activator 59): 3 min at 0.05 mm gap, 30 min at 0.5 mm gap
- Shear strength: 2000–3500 psi with EF Activator 56 after 24 hours at 22 °C; 4000 psi after 30 min heat cure at 150 °C
Use and Storage
- Apply activator to one surface and adhesive to the other; assemble parts within two hours
- Store at 7–29 °C in a cool, dry place
