CS1900

Chem Seal CS 1900 is a two-part compound for sealing firewall structures. It is elastomeric at operating temperatures from −54 to 204 °C (−65 to 400 °F) and withstands flash temperatures up to 1093 °C (2000 °F). It meets MIL-S-38249 Class B. It is applied by pressure gun or spatula; for brush application it can be thinned with ketone solvents after mixing.

Application Properties

• Colour: A black, B clear amber liquid; mix ratio by weight 100:2.5
• Base viscosity 10,000–12,000 P; workable paste
• Work life 2 hours; tack free under 4 hours; 35 Shore A under 60 hours

Performance

• Specific gravity 1.33; non-volatile content 68%; ultimate hardness 80 Shore A
• Peel (14 days): aluminium 12, stainless steel 14; after 3 days at 204 °C 15, 100% cohesive
• No burn-through and self extinguishing after 15 minutes in a 1093 °C flame; passes −54 °C flexibility, corrosion and fluid resistance tests

Storage and Packaging

• 1 year below 27 °C (80 °F) in unopened containers
• Pre-measured can kits (1/2 pint – 1 gallon); 5 gallon pails
