Sodium hypochlorite 5% (NaOCl, CAS 7681-52-9) is a bleaching and disinfecting agent. It is commonly used as a bleaching or disinfecting agent and may also be used for water purification and the treatment of industrial and swimming pools. It remains stable for long periods.
Typical Properties
- Light yellow liquid with a strong bleach odour
- NaOCl 4.5–5.5% (by weight); total alkalinity as NaOH 0.10–1.20%
- Specific gravity 1.05
Use
