3M Vibration Damping Tape 436 combines a low-temperature 3M viscoelastic damping polymer with a dead-soft aluminium foil constraining layer. It is applied by pressure directly to metal and composite panels and damps resonant vibrations in the -60 °C to +20 °C range, with survivability from -60 °C to +120 °C.
Features
- Pressure-sensitive construction for easy application; linered for die-cutting
- Damping polymer type 830 with excellent ageing and resistance to most hydrocarbon and aircraft solvents
- Total thickness 0.45 mm (0.14 mm polymer + 0.3 mm aluminium foil)
- 180° peel adhesion 65 oz/in; tensile strength 210 N/cm
- Temperature resistance -60 °C to +120 °C
Applications
- Vibration damping of metal and composite panels
- Aircraft panels requiring damping at low temperatures
Specifications
- FAR 25.853(a) flammability: pass
Notes
- Store at 16–27 °C and 40–60% RH; use within 24 months of manufacture.
