3M Polyurethane Protective Tape 8673 is made from an abrasion-resistant polyurethane elastomer that resists punctures, tears, abrasion and erosion, and is formulated for long-term resistance to UV light. It provides a simple method of protecting surfaces from abrasion and minor impact damage, installs quickly with simple tools, and may be painted or applied over painted surfaces. It uses a durable, solvent-resistant, pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive with an easy-release liner.

- Tensile strength at break 1,228 N/100 mm; elongation 500% (ASTM D882)
- Peel adhesion to bare aluminium 76 N/100 mm (ASTM D1000)
- Maximum service temperature 93 °C
- Transparent; can be painted per 3M painting instructions

- Erosion protection of components not installed on a heated substrate

Notes
- 3M Adhesion Promoter 86A may be used for difficult substrates; 3M Scotch-Weld DP190 is frequently used for edge sealing.
