Hernon® Tuffbond 47771 is a two-component, 100% solids, one-to-one ratio, room-temperature-cure adhesive/sealant system. It offers excellent resistance to organic acids and bases, outstanding abrasion resistance and good adhesion to a wide variety of substrates, with non-critical mixing.
Typical Applications
- Tank lining; chemical resistant flooring
- Marine and underwater coatings; potting of electrical components
Typical Properties (Uncured)
- Resin: epoxy, black; hardener: amine, light amber; mix ratio 1:1
- Viscosity at 25 °C: both components 60,000–70,000 cP; specific gravity: resin 1.19, hardener 1.00
Typical Properties (Cured)
- Working life (25 °C, 20 g, 1:1) 40–60 minutes; hardness 70–80 Shore D (ASTM D2240)
- Thermal conductivity 0.65 W/(m·K); Tg 77 °C; coefficient of thermal expansion (ASTM D696): below Tg 18 × 10⁻⁶, above Tg 240 × 10⁻⁶ K⁻¹
- Shear strength (ASTM D1002, steel, 24 hours at 22 °C) 2,000–4,500 psi
Storage
- Not recommended for pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems, or as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing materials
- Cool, dry location in unopened containers at 7–29 °C (45–85 °F); optimally in the lower half of this range
