Momentive RTV31 is a high temperature, two-part silicone elastomer. It is supplied ready to use with a base compound and DBT (dibutyl tin dilaurate) as the standard curing agent; other catalysts are available for deep section cure, faster cure and automated mixing. Work time and cure rate can be varied by the amount and type of curing agent. It cures at room temperature, is free of solvents and solvent odour, and offers excellent adhesion with primer and excellent release properties. It is red and pourable. It is used for potting and encapsulating electric motors and transformers, fabrication of rubber parts, casting molds for low-melting point metals, release applications such as rubber rollers, and thermal insulation.

- Useful temperature range −54 to 260 °C; up to 316 °C for short periods
Use
- For adhesion to non-silicone surfaces, apply a silicone primer such as SS4004 and air dry for at least one hour
