What is the difference between the Amino RF resins?
AN2101 and AN2101-2 are liquid RF precondensates; according to the technical bulletin their free formaldehyde is below 50 ppm and they do not polymerise in storage. AN2102-2 is a methylene acceptor in resorcinol-formaldehyde-silica (RFS) systems, bonding rubber to reinforcing materials. AN220 is a styrene-modified RF resin.
Why use AN2102-2 instead of resorcinol monomer?
According to the technical bulletin it contains no free formaldehyde and less than 15% free resorcinol, reducing fuming and weight loss during compounding compared with resorcinol monomer.
